Mary Kathryn Stanley

Mary Kathryn Singleton Stanley (Nana), age 94, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2015. Mary and her husband, Charles, were co-founders of Stanley’s Greenhouse where they worked side by side for many years. Mary was a long time active member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. She was born September 1, 1920 in Knoxville, TN, the youngest daughter born to Robert and Alma Woods Singleton. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Tant and husband, Joe, Mabel Davenport and husband, Hubert; sister-in-law, Tootsie Stanley, Edna Boyd and husband, P.K.; brother-in-law, J.B. Stanley. Mary is survived by her husband of 77 years, Charles Stanley Sr.; daughter, Barbara Barton and husband, Jim; sons, Charles “Monte” Stanley Jr. and wife, Whitney, Rocky Stanley and wife, Lisa; grandchildren are Lezlie Raney and husband, Rusty, David Barton and wife, Christy, Brett Stanley, Wesley Stanley, Maida Lara and husband, Angel, Bill Stanley, Zach Stanley, and Abby Stanley; great grandchildren, Nicholas Raney, John Barton, Wesley Raney, Jake Barton, Gavin Stanley, Josh Barton, Lilly Stanley, Jack and Sam Lara; brother-in-law, Howard Stanley; sister-in-law, Bertha Stanley; special cousin, Wilma Brown; nieces Marianne Davenport and Carolyn Kendrick; nephew, Bob Tant; other beloved family and many friends. A special thank you to caregivers, Sylvia Hollifield, Donna Elliot and Gail Hoskins and the UT Hospital staff. Family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 12 at South Knoxville Baptist Church, 522 Sevier Ave with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Dr. Glenn Sullivan will be officiating. Family will proceed in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for the interment service. Pallbearers will be Brett Stanley, Bill Stanley, Zach Stanley, Rusty Raney, Bob Kendrick and David Barton.
