Michael R. “Mickey” Galyon passed away peacefully on October 11th, 2025, following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnie and Nellie Galyon; sister, Darlene Galyon Johnson; and brother-in-law, Thomas Gossett.
Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Galyon; his two children, James (Layla) Galyon and Kelly Galyon; and his cherished grandchildren, Cameron (Diana) Stieber, Townsend (Maddy) Whaley, and Holly Galyon. He was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-grandchild, Liam Stieber, expected in November.
He is also survived by his siblings Wayne (Bobbie) Galyon, Larry (Brenda) Galyon, and Lisa Gossett; and by his nieces and nephews: Wendy (Dennis) Conard, Jodi (Taylor) Bars, Melissa Galyon, Matthew (Heather) Johnson, and David Johnson. Extended family includes great-nephews Rusty (Myra) Conard, Tristan Johnson, and Brekyn Bars; great-niece Kyla Johnson; brother-in-law Hubert F. Johnson Jr.; and many beloved cousins and friends. His faithful feline companion, Marley, was always by his side.
Mickey proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He later retired from Robertshaw after a long and dedicated career. A lifelong farmer, Mickey worked the land side-by-side with his brother Larry, a bond they treasured deeply. He was known for his bountiful gardens, always eager to share his harvest with neighbors and friends.
Mickey was a kind, generous soul who loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Go rest now, Mickey. We will see you soon.
A Committal service with no funeral home involvement will be held 10/29/2025, 10 am at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920
