

Mike was a devoted member of Redemption Church for over 20 years, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
He graduated from Rule High School in 1969 and proudly joined the United States Navy that same year, serving his country with honor until 1975. Following his military service, Mike began a long and successful career in Oak Ridge, working at both K-25 and Y-12. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced to the position of engineer before retiring. Even in retirement, Mike continued to contribute his expertise, working an additional 10 years at USEC.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ethel Tallman; his brother, Danny Tallman; his first wife, Donna King Tallman; and his stepson, John Bean.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Tallman; sister, Judy Loveday; son, Christopher Tallman; daughters, Kristy Tallman and Kimberly Buffington; stepdaughters, Rachel Miller and Maria Martz; grandchildren, Austin (Debra) Tallman, Nichole Smith, Makenzie Miller, Anthony Buffington, Justin Keener, Jaelyn Hardy, Kasen Hardy, and Chloe Buffington; great-grandchildren, Remi and Rari Carter; and special nephews, Alex, Brett, and Brent Loveday.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, his service to his country, and his quiet strength and faith. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow. A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1:00pm at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918 with full military honors. Pastor Ed King officiating.
