Micheline M. Heaton, age 85, of Holston Health and Rehab Center, formerly 7529 Hodges Ferry Road, passed away peacefully at 8:12 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Micheline was born on April 16, 1939 in Casablanca, Morocco, the daughter of Michel and Andrea Lubrano. She was born a French citizen and immigrated to the United States at age eighteen with her parents and brother Joseph. Soon after immigrating, she adopted Mickie as her nickname. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on October 23, 1981.
Mickie is survived by her husband of over sixty five years, Clarence Heaton whom she married on July 11, 1959 in Panama City, Florida. Also surviving are a daughter, Teresa Atnip and her husband Collin of Suwanee, Georgia and their son Jon and daughter Kari; a son, Edward and his wife Wendi of Eads, Tennessee and their sons Noah and Adam; a daughter, Laurie Rush and her husband Jody of Knoxville, Tennessee and their son Andre; and a son Andrew, of Huntsville, Alabama.
Mickie was preceded in death by her parents, Michel and Andrea Lubrano; brothers, Sauveur, Mario, and Joseph; and sisters, Alphonsine Acker and Laurette Culross.
Mickie was close to her immediate and extended family. She loved early mornings with a cup of coffee, cooking for her family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, ever a generous, gracious host. She enjoyed working in her garden, feeding and watching the birds outside her kitchen window, and watching University of Tennessee football. She also loved chocolate. She was a member of the Maryville Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school to infants and toddlers.
After she raised her children Mickie worked at Mission Services Association and Dollywood Theme Park. The beach and the Great Smoky Mountains of east Tennessee were two of her favorite places to be.
A receiving of friends and family for Micheline will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920, followed by a celebration of life service at 3:00 PM.
