Mildred June Brooks Wolfe

Wolfe, Mildred June Brooks, age 86 of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, October 05, 2011 at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice. Mildred was born and raised in Claiborne County. She was a 1943 graduate from Claiborne County High School and 1947 graduate of Ft. Sanders School of Nursing. Mildred retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center after 40 years of service. She was a Registered Nurse and served as the Emergency Room Nursing Supervisor and Assistant Director of Nursing Service. After retiring, she loved to get together with her nursing friends (Lunch Bunch), her friends in her church Keenager Group, and loved to work in her beautiful rose garden. Mildred loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class. Mildred was preceded in death by husband of 62 years, Allen Wolfe; parents, Vernon and Nora Brooks; sister, Pauline Mise; brothers, Luther, Bill and Frank Brooks. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Patti Wolfe, Garry and Elaine Wolfe; grandchildren, Caroline, Andrew and Cara Wolfe; sister, Marilyn Berry; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brooks and Nancy Brooks; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, October 7, 2011 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM with Dr. Deron Cobb and Rev. Cesar Correa officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
