Paul retired after many dedicated years working at Mayfield Dairy and Kmart. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and proudly served in the National Guard. Paul was also an active member of the Volkswagen Club and cherished the friendships he made there.
He found happiness working in his garden and spending time outside, where his hard work and care could always be seen in the beauty he created. A lifelong supporter of University of Tennessee sports, he rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Volunteers. He also had a special fondness for his Volkswagen, which reflected both his personality and his passion.
On May 27, 1966, Paul married the love of his life, Joyce Dockery, at Marble City Baptist Church in Knoxville. Together they built a life full of love, family, and faith.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, William Ellis Collette and Grace Edna Porter Collette; sister, Maxine Conner (Frank). He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Joyce; his three sons, Michael (Missy), Ronnie (LaVonda), and Brad (Rebecca); grandchildren, Jake, Cannon, Blake, Zach, Joey, Justin, Jayden, Crystal, Eva, and Katie; great-grandchildren, Theo, McKenzie, Addison, Paisley, Gracie, and Maci; niece, Donna Frederick (Brian); and nephew, David Connor (Becky).
Receiving of friends will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, with the funeral service to follow. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
