

Peggy Miller Batts of Knoxville died December 15, 2016 at Parkwest Hospital. Mrs. Batts grew up and attended school in Franklin County. She married Edwin H. Batts, New Year’s Eve 1948. During their marriage of 44 years she and her husband raised two sons. She loved being a wife and mother and she was always satisfied and happy just being with her family. She enjoyed all the cities where she and her family lived which included Cowan, TN, Tullahoma, TN, Mobile, AL, Anniston, AL and finally Knoxville, TN as of 1989. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, but a frequent visitor to Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, CA. Besides love of family she was an avid sports fan and greatly devoted to Tennessee coaches John Majors and Pat Summitt. Preceded in death by husband Edwin H. Batts Jr, parents Harvey Burke Miller and Viva B. Miller, siblings Wendell D. Miller, Martha B. Cotton, and Clayton H. Miller. She is survived by her two devoted sons Edwin H. Batts III, (Knoxville) and Eric D. Batts (San Francisco) as well as numerous family and friends including Leda Stelling, Bryn Cotton, Terri Ellis, Donna Shumate, Yar-Chung Wei, Kevin and Betsy Palm, Will and Tammy Magill, Paul D. Gearing and Nancy Rhea Visitation and receiving of friends will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial – 5315 Kingston Pike. The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church – 2829 Kingston Pike with the Rev.Tim Reynolds officiating. Burial and Graveside service immediately following the funeral at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Wilson officiating.
