

Phyllis Cox Jordan, age 93, of South Knoxville, took the hand of Jesus on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Phyllis graduated from Greenville Business College and two years in the school of business at the University of Tennessee. She was a long time faithful member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 45 years, sang in the choir and held various jobs in the church for many years. She loved her flowers and vegetable gardens and animals, especially Sheba her black kitty. Besides her family, her church, and her job, she also loved giving readings at schools, churches, fundraisers, and for her grandchildren. Phyllis worked at Tennessee Coach Company/Trailways where she served as executive secretary to the President and later to the general/traffic manager and retired after thirty three years of service. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years of marriage W.S. (Bill) Jordan who passed away January 29, 2007 at the age of 87; parents Carson and Georgie Cox; brothers Eugene, Rex and wife Clyde; L.A.; sister, Hilda and husband L.C. Bryant; grandson Kevin Bartalino; and nephew Kim Cox. She is survived by her daughters Shelia Jordan Siegert and husband Jack of Conifer, Colorado; and Teresia Jordan Gibson and husband Verlin of Seymour, Tennessee; grandchildren: Keith and wife Leslie, Phillip Michael, Shannon and wife Whitney; great-grandchildren: Nick, Dylan (Angel Baby), Tyler, Grace, Kyler, Kasey, Blake and Isabelle; great-great-grandchild Elijah; brothers Jeff Cox and wife Bobbie; J.C. Cox and wife Mary; sister-in-law Wanda Cox; nieces and nephews Charles, David, Jerita, Benji, Beverly, Kristi, Cindy, and Ned. She also leaves a niece of the Jordan family Betty June Spence of North Carolina. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Bebee, Michelle, Chaplain Kelly, Brandy and all the other doctors and nurses of Smoky Mountain Hospice for the love, care, and songs they gave her over the last few months. Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm at Hillcrest United Methodist Church with the funeral sevice to follow at 3:30 pm, Rev. Dr. Patrick Polis and Rev. Monte Walton officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mosheim Central Cememtery in Mosheim, Tennessee on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 2:30 pm for the interment. Pallbearers will be grandsons Keith, Phillip Michael, and Shannon; nephews Charles, Benji, Ned, and David. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick, Dylan, Tyler, and Kyler.
