She is preceded in death by her father, Phillip Austin Kirby, and mother, Elizabeth Howard Kirby.
Prissy is survived by her brother, Dr. Phillip David (Sharon) Kirby; nieces, Lauren (Brian) Ott, Anna (Ross) Locke; nephew, Dr. James (Katelyn) Kirby; great-nieces, Abigail and Adelyn Locke, Kirby Ott, Rosie and Lula Brown; great-nephews, Barnes and Gus Ott, and Rutledge Brown.
A 1966 graduate of Young High School, Prissy graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and received a Master's degree in education from Lincoln Memorial University. After teaching in Queens, New York for 3 years, she taught for 40 years with Knox County Schools at Adrian Burnett Elementary as an enthusiastic kindergarten teacher. While she did not have children of her own, she often referred to her thousands of beloved students as "her children" and spent many hours creating new ways and ideas to help her students enjoy learning.
Prissy loved the Lord and attended Two Rivers Church in Lenoir City, and served the Lord in mission trips to Russia. She loved her family, especially her nieces, nephew and great-nieces and nephews who will miss her immensely!
She also loved horses, attending horse shows, dressage riding, and being able to ride until her early seventies. She loved traveling with her special friends to the beach and overseas to Israel, Greece and South Korea.
Being a devout Tennessee Volunteer fan, she was very excited to have Peyton Manning visit her kindergarten classroom as a special guest.
