Ralph "Sam" Samuel Evans

Sam was married to the love of his life, Jane Evans, for 64 wonderful years before her passing. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.

He retired from BellSouth Telephone Company after 40 years of dedicated service, where he worked as an engineer. Sam was a proud and faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for 59 years. During that time, he served the church in many capacities, including Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School teacher, and as a worker in the children’s bus ministry. He and his wife, Jane, also faithfully led the College and Career Ministry, mentoring countless young adults through the years.

Sam proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the Kearsarge Aircraft Carrier, a service he always held in great honor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Evans.

He is survived by his son, Stuart (Ann) Evans; his daughter, Karen (Michael) Allen; along with many extended family members, church family, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Kirby Ownby. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Mt. Olive Cemetery for a 10:00 AM interment service with full military honors provided by East Tennessee Volunteer Honor Guard.
