With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Richard John Burke III, age 79, born September 3, 1942 in Lafayette, Indiana and died October 15, 2021, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was retired from the Navy and Anheuser-Busch. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard John Burke and Elizabeth Karsell Burke, as well as, his in-laws, Allen K and Rowena Faye Jeffries and grandson, David MacLeod. He is survived by his wife, Rowena J. Burke, sister, Carolyn E. Burke. He is also survived by children Amanda Lowe (Travis), Jennifer Edwards (Brandon), Coreen Rairdon (Timothy), Cindy Jane Lewis, Alexandra MacLeod, grandchildren Landon Key-Burke, Joshua Lowe, Christopher Meech, Ryan Wiggins, Christian Burke, Alex Rairdon, Justin Lewis, and Peter MacLeod; great grandchildren Liam, Kai and Caleb.
Richard was a proud plank owner of Seal Team 2, Vietnam Veteran and exceptional electrical engineering project manager at Anheuser-Busch. He was a 32nd degree mason in the Fernandina Beach, FL lodge and Scottish Rite. He traveled the world, enjoying many family vacations and adventures. A devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather, he was a leader of men, changing many of those lives with whom he was associated. Friends have commented that his work ethic, determination and commitment inspired them in their own lives and work arenas. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and his animals. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be held on October 23, 2021 at Highland Berry Memorial - visitation from 11:00 to 12:45 with graveside military honors at 1:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Landon Key-Burke, Joshua Lowe, Travis Lowe, Michael Knott, and Kevin Kiniry.
