

Arland was a strong, hardworking man who left a lasting impression on his family, friends, and community. As a heart transplant survivor, he showed remarkable strength, resilience, and perseverance, inspiring everyone who knew him. He took immense pride in his family and was deeply committed to helping others, especially through youth sports. As a Field Director and Coach, he built and led a meaningful program that mentored young athletes both on and off the field. Through his leadership, discipline, and dedication to developing character as well as skill, he helped guide multiple student-athletes toward collegiate opportunities and long-term success.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Nathan York and Gladys Virginia Lefler York; and by his siblings, Robert York, Melvin “Jeep” York, Joyce Connatser, Francis York, Tommy York, Barbara Koontz, and Jeff York.
Arland is survived by his wife, Sheri York of 39 years; his children, Arland York, Dustin York (Abby), Brittany Baxter (Justin), and Eric York (Morgan); his grandchildren, Preston York (Danielle), Eily Jeffers (Izic), Cameron York, Hadley Skidmore (Joseph), Wheatley Harris (Carter), Kylie Brown (Tre’), Madison Perrin, Montgomery Baxter, Carson Baxter, and Lennox York; and his great-grandchildren, Zeke York, Bo Jeffers, and Malikai York. He is also survived by his brothers, Todd York (Brenda) and Dean York; his sisters-in-laws, Sandra York and Brenda York; along with many other family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Mark Wigger with Vanderbilt Heart Transplant Team, as well as Dr. Gadde and Sarah Jones, NP, at UT Cancer Center, for their care and support.
Visitation will be held on April 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Berry Highland South Funeral Home. The service will immediately follow with Mark McKeehan officiating.
