for Heaven surrounded by family on February 23, 2026. He is now reunited with his son, Derek Alan, and his father, Herman, who preceded him in death. Roger was a long-time member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Roger graduated from South High School in 1972, where he excelled in football and baseball. As an adult, he continued to show his athleticism on the softball field. He loved competition and worked hard at everything he did. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Roger and Melanie were married in 1975 and were devoted to each other for 51 years. Thay had two boys they loved dearly. Those who were blessed to know Roger enjoyed his sense of humor, as well as his great love and passion for things Tennessee sports. His SoKno Brotherhood enjoyed his company, and he was always the life of the party. He had unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends. Roger shared his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, happily and willingly.
Roger is survived by his wife, Melanie Rogers; his son, Jason Rogers (Elizabeth); his grandson, Cameron Rogers (Emily(; his granddaughter, Kaley Perryman; his great-grandson, Dakota Miller; his loving and devoted mother, Lois Rogers; his brother-in-laws, Mark Rogers (Cleda) and Kenny Cartwright; his niece, Star LeBlanc (Edward); his nephew, Jeremy Cartwright (Heather); his cousins, Andy Kerr, David Gilbert (Margaret), Cindy Keeping (Paul), Foringa Flynn (Eddie), Harold Rogers (Donna), Veronica Rogers (Ronnie), and his best friend Kim McDowell, as well as other extended family and friends.

The family will have a private viewing from 1:00 pm to 3:00pm on Friday, February 27, 2026 followed by a Graveside Service at 3:00 pm at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN, 37920.
