

Rolan retired to Knoxville, and throughout his retirement he served proudly with the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard for over 17 years. During his service with the Honor Guard, he provided military honors for countless veterans, as well as served as a chaplain for many years. He served during the Korean War and was a proud veteran of the US Army. Rolan was also a member of West Park Baptist Church.
Rolan is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Kay Waters; second wife, Virginia Waters; granddaughter, Shannon Schwitters; sister, Mabel Taylor; brothers, Edgar, Willard, and Harlan Waters; as well as his parents.
Rolan is survived by his daughter, Debra (J) Schwitters; sons, Scott Waters and Jeremy (Tina) Waters; grandchildren, Stephanie Amanti, Vanessa Wacha, Hannah Waters, Zechariah and Joshua Waters; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony and Wesley Schwitters, Luke, Leah, and Timothy Amanti, Henry and Harvey Wacha, and Makalyn, Madison, and Owen Heser.
A committal service will be held on January 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, located at 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN, 37920.
