

Rufus Lomax, 82 of Knoxville, born May 24, 1933 and departed this life January 16, 2016 at Fort Sanders Hospital, member of the Catholic faith. Graduate from Austin High School, class of 1953 and Knoxville College, with a Bachelor of Arts in 1958. He traveled to Mexico every summer for continued studies.
He taught foreign language (Spanish) for Knox County School 1st district wide, he spent most of career at Whittle Spring Jr. High School from 2/10/1958 and retired 5/26/2010. Preceded in death by his beloved parents; Father James Lomax and Mother Gertrude Lomax, brothers; John Lomax, Robert Lomax, George Washington Lomax, Paul Lomax, Sisters; Mildred Lomax, and Virginia Anderson; Nephew Paul Lomax and niece Gloria Lomax, Titus Anderson Jr. and special cousin Georgia Dubose. Survivors; John Lomax Jr., Rickjan Lomax, Peter Romero Lomax, Jarma Lomax, Talia Lomax O’dneal, Jon Lomax, Bobbie Lomax, Charles Lomax, James Lomax, William Lomax, Stacy Lomax, Joe Lomax and Robin Lomax. The Anderson family; Mary Wright, Beverly Anderson, Gail Anderson, Tanya Winters, Dexter Anderson, Gwen Ferguson, Kevin Anderson and a host of nephews and nieces, very close sister-in-law Bettye Lomax, dear friends; Angela Mobley and Betty Joe Hamilton, co-workers; Mary Lou and Teresa, and The Golden Girls of Whittle Springs. He was known throughout Knoxville as Senor Lomax. Visitation 11am-12:00 on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Berry Highland Memorial at 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Funeral starts at 12:00 noon Saturday, burial to follow at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
