

Christine Popejoy passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Westmoreland Health and Rehab. Christine was a valued member of the Tennessee State Florists’ Association and the East Tennessee Professional Florists’ Association. She started in the floral industry in 1952 working for Crouch Florist in Knoxville. In 1960 she opened Christine’s Flowers and Gifts in downtown Knoxville and made it a flourishing business.
Christine dedicated many years of her life in service to the floral industry. She served the Tennessee State Florists’ Association for several years as East Tennessee Director and has worked on numerous committees over the years. She served as co-chairman of the 1973 state convention and chairman in 1981. In 1998 she received the TSFA Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award. Christine has served her allied, the East Tennessee Professional Florist’ Association, as President, Vice President and served as Director. She served on the Teleflora Tennessee Unit board as President, Vice President and Director.
Christine has also been an active member of the Knoxville Community both business and socially. Her talents do not end in the flower shop as she brought a smile to every event and was eager to help anyone she came in contact with. Over the years everyone has come to know and love her as an individual who was always willing and eager to help whether it was planning a convention or a social event. No one could plan a party like Christine.
Preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Popejoy. Survivors include two sisters Marilyn Callihan and Betty Winstead, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held in the Rocky Hill Cemetery Monday, August 31, 2020 at 4:00pm with Rev. Kenneth Armstrong officiating. Arrangements by Berry Highland Memorial. Friends may leave their thoughts and memories at www.berryhighlandmemorial.com
