Terri Jo Owenby received her heavenly wings on November 1, 2024. Terri Jo was born in Salina, Kansas on January, 27, 1960, but she lived most of her life in Knoxville, Tennessee. Terri is survived by her parents, Burble and Guietta Toothman Owenby. She was their only child.
She was a precious blessing to all who knew her. Terri had a sweet and loving soul, and she always had a warm hug for everyone. Her sweet giggle and smile was contagious, and if you were blessed enough to know her, you had a friend forever.
Even though Terri was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was 5-years-old, it did not keep from having an impeccable memory. We all knew that if you ever misplaced anything or forgot something, just ask Terri. She was our go to girl for help!
Terri Jo loved the Lord, and it was so evident in her sweet spirit. She loved attending church and hearing southern gospel music. Some of Terri’s fondest memories were the days attending church at Texas Valley Baptist and Glen Oak Baptist.
A special highlight in Terri’s life was the time spent at the Sunshine Industries Center. Over the years, she was a constant and helpful presence at the center, where she made life-long friends.
Terri loved life, and some of her favorite activities were bowling, bingo, word search puzzles and all things Tweety Bird! She also loved attending all family gatherings, where her sweet smile made each one just a little more special.
She will be forever missed by those left behind. Although our hearts are sad, we rejoice knowing she heard, “well done, my good and faithful servant.” The family finds peace knowing that she is sheltered in the arms of God.
Terri is preceded in death by grandparents Hugh and Cecil Owenby of Knoxville, Tennessee, Harold and Rose Toothman of Salina, Kansas, and many other loved ones that met her as she walked through the gates of Heaven.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery on Sutherland Avenue. Pastor Steve Owenby officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your church or favorite charity in honor of Terri.
