Terry graduated from South Young High School and built a life marked by steady devotion to those he loved, a faithful heart, and a patient way of meeting each day. Known throughout South Knoxville, Terry carried an easy warmth—never meeting a stranger—and his quiet humor often made others feel at home in his presence.
For 33 years, Terry was happily married to Tracye Mathes, sharing a life grounded in commitment and care. His love for family was evident in the time he gave, the encouragement he offered, and the steadfast presence he remained through every season.
Terry found joy in motorcycles, playing the guitar, and taking trips to the mountains. His faith was central to his life, and he loved witnessing for Jesus. He was a member of Blount Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee, reflecting a dependable spirit and a willingness to serve with sincerity and constancy.
Terry is survived by daughters, Tabitha Mathes, Jaclyn Romines (Brian), and Brittany Gibbons (Shawon); son, Michael Mathes (Stephanie); sisters, Tina Ross and Karen Lopez (Joe); sister in law, Christy Burch; brother In Law, Ron Burch; grandchildren, Keeley Ford (Brady), Luke Romines, Averi Romines, Sydney Romines, Audrey Romines, Naylen Gibbons, Maddie Mathes, Ollie Mathes; and great grandson, Nash Ford.
Terry was preceded in death by father, Bill Mathes; mother, Shirley Mathes; and sister, Teresa Roberson.
Visitation will be held on May 20, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will follow on May 20, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm. Interment Service will be held on May 21, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
