

JOINER, THELMA E. FOX, "GRANNY" - age 96, slipped away to be with her Savior and the love of her life, February 2, 2013. She was a graduate of Farragut High School and Tennessee School of Beauty. Granny was a long-time member of Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She married the love of her life, Rev. John Earl Joiner, July 6, 1940 and became a minister's wife. She assisted her husband with his ministry in service to God for 34 years. Granny was deeply involved with God's work at the three churches Earl pastured; including Lakeview Baptist, Poplar Springs Baptist (Loudon County) and Ball Road Baptist Church. She and Earl were founders of Zion Children's Home where she was a loving mother and granny to all the children who passed through those doors over the years. Granny loved gospel music and to play the piano for her children to sing. She was preceded in death by Rev. Earl Joiner, her loving partner; son, J.T. "Jay" Joiner; sons-in-law, Steve Mitchell and Joe Milsaps; grandson, Scotty Mitchell; great-great grandson, Aiden Edington; parents, J.W. "Jim" and Lucy Fox; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Cecil Fox, Bob and Lee Fox; brother, J.W. "Jay" Fox, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Paul Adams, Cil and Phil Atchley and Gladys Cruz. She is survived by daughters, Sue Mitchell and Ann Milsaps; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Marsha Joiner and Charles and Mary Ann Bunch; daughter-in-law, Barbara Joiner; former daughters-in-law, Wanda Faye Joiner and Wanda Kay Joiner; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Ron Roberts; sister-in-law, Robbie Fox; brother-in-law,, Charles Cruze; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; numerous extended family members; and a host of friends. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to her nurses and CNAs at Brakebill Nursing Home for the wonderful care and love they gave to Granny. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Weaver's Chapel, with the service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Reverends Charles Lynch and James Burk officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, at Edgewood Cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. interment.
