Theodore (Tedd) W. Williams, Jr. aged 78 passed on March 31, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Tedd is preceded in death by his father and mother, Theodore W. Williams, Sr. and Ella Hilton Williams, his wife Brenda Vinyard Williams, and sister Patricia (Peggy) Williams Luhn. Tedd is survived by his daughter Natalie Williams, brother Johnny Mack (Kathy) Williams, and Timothy D Williams. He also leaves his nieces Andrea (Joe) Stallsworth, Patricia (Tricia) (Jason) Luhn-Clark, and Sarah Williams.
Tedd graduated from Young High School in 1964. He was drafted and served honorably in the Army, first as an instructor at Ft. Belvoir, VA and then as a radio technician stationed in Pleiku, Vietnam. After completing his military service, Tedd returned to his role as a computer technician with Western Union. He played a key role in Western Union’s internet division, which was eventually sold and became AT&T's WorldNet. He was an active member with AFL-CIO’s Communication Workers of America, serving a term as Vice President of his local in Virginia.
Even though he lived in Virginia for many years, he was happy he could return to East Tennessee when a position became available, so he could be closer to his family once again. Tedd eventually retired from AT&T to take care of his wife Brenda. From the time they met at a Young High football game, to her last breath, he loved and cared for her. Just as he loved Brenda, he loved and supported his daughter Natalie. She was Daddy’s girl. Natalie knew he was the oak to lean against and take shelter under in hard times.
Tedd felt a strong connection with veterans. He began spending time with Vietnam veterans while living in Virginia. Upon returning home to Knoxville, he sought out the Captain Bill Robinson Chapter 1078 of the Vietnam Veterans Association. At VVA he made friends and volunteered, supporting veterans of all wars. In 2017, he was selected to attend an Honor Flight, an experience he cherished and spoke of often.
Tedd's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veteran's Home, many of whom took special notice and care of Tedd in his final years. He often called you "His Angels," and we cannot help but echo his sentiment.
While flowers are welcome, anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Tedd could consider Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veteran's Home, The Alzheimer's Association, or a veteran's charity.
