

Lovett, Uhlma Wynn Zittrouer – age 91, of Knoxville, passed away January 22, 2015. Uhlma was born December 29, 1923 in Newington, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia Southern with a degree in education and a minor in music. She began her teaching career in Savannah, Georgia at the age of 19. Uhlma met Jim Lovett, a 2nd Lt. just returning from service in the Pacific Theatre of WWII, married him in 1947 and spent 53 years as his beloved wife until his death in 2000. Uhlma was a wonderful wife to Jim and a loving mother to 3 daughters. She was a true southern lady, always putting others before herself with a gentle spirit of kindness and grace. She was a member of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Jim” Lovett; her parents, Howell Wynn and Uhlma Zittrouer; her beloved step-mother, Emma Lee Zittrouer; and her sister, Delores Conrad. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Van Fillingim, Kathy and Dave Miller, and Lucy and Joe Hawkins; grandchildren, Sarah (Adam) Vicars, Katie (Justin) Estes, Elizabeth Miller, James Miller, Hannah Hawkins, and Kelly Hawkins; great-grandchildren, Van, Eli, and Britton Vicars, and Olivia Estes; sister, Shirley Bryan; special niece, Judie Crews; and special nephew, Donnie Lovett. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Brakebill Nursing Home and Caris Hospice for their comfort and care. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway; Pastor Dave Ward officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Interment will be Thursday, January 29, 2015 at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Lyonsview Pike.
