Virginia was born in Knoxville, TN and was a lifelong resident of East Tennessee. She was a retired supervisor from Rental Uniform, although, her favorite job she ever had was as a young adult developing film at Hollywood Studios on Gay Street. After retirement, Virginia and her loving husband, Walter, were avid travelers and enjoyed vacationing in Florida during the winter months.
Virginia was a loving wife, a devoted mother of four, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and a faithful servant. Patient, kind, compassionate, honorable, wise, encourager, and always going the extra mile because she knew Who she was serving are just a few characteristics to best describe her legacy. She was the biggest prayer warrior we’ve ever known. She prayed for her family members by name every single day. If you ever sent her a card, you were prayed for. If you asked for prayer, she added you to the list.
Her smile lit up a room and her sweet giggle was contagious. Her work was never done as she could always be found stewarding well that which God had given to her. She always made the best of what she had — even when the rowdy children caused the kitchen to catch on fire in the late 60s nearly ruining Christmas.
Virginia was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church for 66 years where she served as a kindergarten Sunday school teacher. She loved telling others about Jesus. Her steadfast faith has left a legacy of integrity, compassion and godly character.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. — Psalm 116:15
