

Wanda Ruth Nichols, 86, passed away on May 10, 2013. Wanda was born to Coy and Myrtle Sharp on March 28, 1927 in Knoxville and spent her life in Knox County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband of almost 61 years, Charles E. Nichols, son Roger W. Nichols, brothers Paul and Marvin, and sister Ann. She is survived by children: Mike (Marianne), Glenn (Carol), Jeanie (Lynn) and Gordon, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; Brother Frank; and several nieces and nephews. She was an active and faithful member of Flint Gap Baptist Church for over 60 years. She spent her life as a wife, mother and caregiver. She spent several years as a sitter and care giver for several elderly folks. She spent the last couple of years at Brakebill Nursing Home, where she was able to relax and roll around the facility in her wheelchair, talking and smiling at everyone she passed. Special thanks to Lori Cooper for her kindness and special care, and the staff. She spent the last week at Park West Hospital, 3 Montvue, with very loving, competent and compassionate care. Thank you to the wonderful folks there. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 12th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with funeral to follow at 7:00 pm, Rev. Mickey Lusk officiating, at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home on Asheville Highway. Family and friends will meet at McCarty-Evergreen on Monday at 9:15 am to go in procession to Huckleberry Springs Cemetery for the graveside service at 10:00 am.
