William E. Owens, age 80, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018. He attended Friendly Chapel Baptist Church. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. Bill worked in security and law enforcement for 26 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Owens; daughter, Sandra Lynn Owens; parents, William Joseph Owens and step-mother, Martha Evelyn; mother, Ruby V. Mays and step-father, Howard. Bill is survived by his son, William "Bill" Owens Jr., Assistant Chief of Police at Blaine Police Department and wife, Mitzi; granddaughters Whitney Minor and husband, Philip, Tiffany Dyke and husband, Jay; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Bailey, Cayden, and Isabella Minor, Owen, Audrey, and Ava Dyke; brother, Robert E. Owens and wife, Carolyn; five nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Ronnie and Pam Clark. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the City of Blaine and the residents of Grainger County for accepting Bill as one of their own and loving and caring for him. Family will receive friends Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with the funeral service to follow at 8:00 pm, Rev. Jerry Crye officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:45 am to go in procession to East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, John Sevier Highway for the interment.
