
Barbara Joanne Unger, 99, of Kokomo, passed away at Bloom of Kokomo on Friday, May 2, 2025. She was born in Kokomo on August 4, 1925 to the late William Clyde and Hazel (Booher) Alley. She married Charles Unger on August 22, 1953 in New Mexico and he passed away in June of 1977.
After Barbara graduated from Kokomo High School, she moved to Washington DC where she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigations for 10 years. She went on to eventually meet her husband, Charles and they were married in New Mexico in 1953. She was a homemaker for many years. Barbara went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Indiana University and was a teacher at Valparaiso schools for a few years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed painting and knitting.
Barbara is survived by nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles; brothers, Don Alley, Nolan Alley, Ogden Alley, Norman Alley, and Virgil Alley; and sisters, Pauline Shockley and Gladys Pitzer.
The family of Barbara would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Bloom of Kokomo for the special care they have given their Aunt Barbara throughout her stay there.
There will be a graveside service for Barbara on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Kokomo Memorial Park, 1300 East North Street, Kokomo, Indiana.
