Carmella married Dante J. Sartori on June 30, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. Dante preceded Carmella in passing on June 28, 2008. Carmella was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo, and volunteered there often. She was also a member of the Venetian Club in Detroit. Carmella was a very creative individual and devoted a lot of her time to making crafts and sewing. She was also talented at playing both the organ and the accordion. For Carmella, everything centered around her family, and she cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Carmella is survived by her daughters, Rita Turflinger, Donna (Jim) Miller, Cynthia (Paul) Dye, Patty (Ron) Dennis, and Lisa (Tony) Ploughe; and grandchildren, Jason Turflinger, Bradley Turflinger, Antenielle Bell, Kristin Kowalewski, Jaime Riddle-Tepin, Traci Stolze, Stephanie Rogers, Amber Riddle, Erik Riddle, and Tiffany Ploughe. Carmella also leaves 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carmella was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, and two grandchildren, Ryan Ploughe and Rodney Ploughe.
There will be a public visitation for Carmella at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo on Thursday, December 6th from 11-1, followed immediately by a funeral Mass. Carmella will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Carmella’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Patrick Catholic Church.
