Carol grew up with her brother Walter in a three or four generation home. They grew up knowing hard work and respect for elders.
After a marriage to Wm. R., Carol spent 22 years as a sailor's wife. They covered half the world. In Hawaii when it was still a territory in the 1950's, to Morocco Africa in the late 1960's, before the United States' 99 year lease ran out on the bases and we were asked to leave. While in Morocco life blessed the family with engagements in Robat at the ambassador's house, to wild boar hunting at dignitaries' villas in the Atlas mountains. She got to fish outside the Kennedy's summer home in Rhode Island and got to watch San Diego, CA growth for some time.
Carol graduated from Bloomington, IL with the class of 1953. She worked for Americana for 17 years, retiring in 1990 as their Chef.
She outlived her siblings Robert "Bob" Brice, Judith and Bonnie. Her brother Walt survives with his second wife Jo. Carol had only one son, Rex and leaves a grandson and two granddaughters.
Carol, came to a relationship with Jesus Christ and was baptized at Crossroads Community Church. Along with warm weather, flowers and vegetables, Carol enjoyed having dinner with a room full of people. It didn't matter how much work was involved, she wanted a full table with food, beverages, family and friends. She inherited this from her Mother, Virle, a great lady who never used a cross word toward anyone.
Carol was a very loyal, long-suffering and hardworking lady. She would never tell you she was hurting. Never wanted to be a bother, but when it came to someone else, nothing was too good. She would cook all day or spend countless amounts of time to make everyone's Christmas packages the prettiest. Carol did have all of her organs reversed in her body which did not make any difference when it came to the love in her heart. She was truly a one in a million.
A funeral service will be held at Ellers Mortuary Main street chapel on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 12pm. Burial will follow at Greenlawn cemetery in Greentown.
