Caroline Louise Wheeler

Caroline L. Wheeler, 73, of Kokomo, passed away at 7:47 AM, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Heritage Health Care in Lafayette. She was born on August 31, 1943 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Rex R. James and Betty L. (Frew) Patmore. She married John R. Wheeler in 1961 in Kokomo, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1988.

Caroline was a homemaker. Caroline enjoyed gardening, canning, dancing, and attending family events. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Post #1152.

Caroline is survived by a son, John R. Wheeler Jr.; two daughters, Tracy (Stephen) Workman and Sylvia Wheeler; eight grandchildren, Nicole Renee Jones, Stephen E. Workman, John R. Wheeler III, Brittany Erin Brown, Jeremy S. Wheeler, Julian Anthony Christakis, Nicholas Alan Christakis, and Chloe Nicole Christakis; brother, Rex (Lisa) James; sisters, Darlene (Robert) Wilkerson and Penny (Craig) Stone; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, John; and her parents.

The memorial service for Caroline will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Ellers Mortuary Main Chapel, 725 South Main, Kokomo, and will be officiated by Pastor Calvin Peck. The family will receive a time for friends on Thursday, from 1:00 pm until the time of service, also at the mortuary.
