Christian Michael Derleth
24 julio , 1974 – 8 febrero , 2021
Christian Michael Derleth, 46, of Sheridan, Indiana, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Riverview Health of Noblesville, Indiana. He was born on July 24, 1974 to Deborah Johnson and Michael Derleth in Kokomo.
Christian didn’t know a stranger and even if it had been years he would always embrace his friends and loved ones with a hug and smile. Christian loved the lake life and cooking. He was an avid Jimmy Buffet fan, enjoyed watching football, and playing golf. His favorite quotes were by Dr. Who, “Together forever through time and space” and, “we’re all stories in the end, just make it a good one.” He will be missed by his furry children, Oscar the cat and Louie, Nemo, and Rosie the dogs, his 2 best friends, Alan Jimenez and Quintin Harlan. He was a graduate of Kokomo High School in 1992. On August 11, 2018, in Sheridan, he married Wendy Hansen, and she survives.
Christian leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Deborah (Duane) Johnson of Greentown, father Michael (Angela) Derleth of Columbus, brother Carl (Christina) Johnson of Hemlock; nieces, Sherri (Matthew) Swanson of LaHarpe, Illinois and Shelbie (Cody) Damewood of Sharpsville; mother-in-law Teri (Dan) Hendrix, father-in-law Tim (Nicole) Hansen; aunts, uncles, great niece, great nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Bernice Johnson and Clem and Mary Derleth, and uncle, Allen Johnson.
A special note of thanks from the family to the doctors, nurses, ICU staff, Suburban hospice, and the chaplains that cared for Christian and his family during this time. Your compassion, kindness, and care were greatly appreciated. Thank you.
The family is having a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please consider registering to be an organ donor.

There is not a memory at the lake that doesn’t have Chris and Al in it!! I hate the fact we lost touch! This news has sadden my heart terribly!! My prayers go out to his parents and wife!!
Slug bug buddy!! I never forgot our talks, our time, or our friendship!!

I didn't think I'd be writing something like this for you so soon. But we're not in charge of the BIG decisions. So ...
A lot of miles traveled together.
A lot of smiles, meals, beverages and good times shared.
Oh the stories we could tell.
From good times on the lawn at the Annual Gathering of the Pirates and Parrotheads. To sharing the field with the KISS Army. A few long conversations that got serious. Most were just catching up after the roads of life took us on separate paths.
Playing cards til the wee hours ... if not til the sunrise.
A few steaks grilled. A few cigars smoked. More than a few glasses raised and toasts made to pals and better days on a boat on the lake.
You were my cornerman. My fellow member of the Four Horsemen. We had each other's backs .. we will always have each other's back in this life, or any other that comes after.
And to think two decades + of friendship/brotherhood started with the following introductions in the spring of 2000:
Christian - "You're that big (bleep) that runs up and down football sidelines."
Q - "Yes. Why the (bleep) did you get married?"
From there ... Good times, bad times. You know we had our share.
I am and always shall be your friend.

Oh how terribly sad. I’m so sorry for you all. So many sweet memories when the kids were young and playing at the lake or at Grandma’s. The first story that comes to my mind is when Allen gave Chris the nickname of “Quick Draw” after the incident with the gun and the bedroom wall. Alway so sweet and gone too soon.
Give Uncle Allen a hug from us all.♥️
