David Andrew Minor, age 80, of Marion, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Marion General Hospital after having multiple problems for several years. His body was a fighter, but his kidneys wouldn't recover. Dave was born in Kokomo, Indiana on July 13,1944 to Andrew Jackson and Eva Francine (Wilson) Minor. He graduated in 1962 from Clay High school, where he was involved in basketball, track and field, chorus and band. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1963 and served honorably, during wartime, until 1967. He went on to work as a police officer for the Kokomo Police Department from 1967 until 1987, when he moved to Plantation, Florida, where he continued his public service as an officer until 1992. He went on to get a commercial driver's license and drove a semitruck from 1992 until he retired in 2016.
Dave was known for his massive height and strength, but he was a kind, caring, and overall, great guy. He was somewhat opinionated, and his lack of filter always kept things interesting. He was a very vocal supporter of police and the military. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as long as he was warm. When he was able to get around town, he could be found zipping around on his chair, watching dogs and people at various parks in Kokomo. He loved his family and friends and really enjoyed visiting with them.
Survivors include his children, Chris (Jeanne) Minor of Tampa, Florida, Andy (Stephanie) Minor of Kokomo, Indiana, Kara (Jim) Larkin of Trafalgar, Indiana and Jordan Minor of Kokomo, Indiana; siblings, Renee Hope of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Georgia Tilley of Burbank, California; as well as 11 grandkids and 9 great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father, Jack, in 1994, and his mother Eva, in 2017; as well as his brother, Dan Minor.
A memorial visitation for David will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ellers Mortuary & Crematory Center, 3400 S. Webster Street, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, with a celebration of life with military honors from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM.
