Dorothy May Rhodes

Dorothy May Rhodes age 82, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Tuesday November 27, 2018. Dorothy was born February 17, 1936 in Kokomo to Boone and Pauline Walker. Dorothy was a 1954 graduate of Kokomo High School. She married Ancil "Slim" Rhodes in August of 1972 and he preceded her in passing on September 11th, 1999. Dorothy retired from Delco after 28 and 1/2 years of service. Dorothy loved to go camping and fishing with Slim and family. Her church family, along with Pastor Joe Bulger and his wife Sherry, at Gethsemane Tabernacle Church meant a lot to her, and she attended there for many years. Dorothy enjoyed being out and about, visiting with friends and church groups. Dorothy was a very strong woman, and a very loving mother. Dorothy leaves behind her children James (Joni) Stover, Jeff (Lory) Stover, and Jannice (David) Humphrey; sisters Pat Brewer and Wilma Lawman; grandchildren Tammy Kay Stover, Cari Ann Stover-Richards, Christopher Shutt, Brandon Wayne Stover, Holly LeAnn Beougher, Mandi Nicole Lee, and Matthew Paul Lee; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in passing by her parents; her husband; sister Wanda Pearson; brothers James Walker and Danny Joe Walker; and grandson Anthony Stover. Friends and family may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 29th at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 1:00 PM also at the Mortuary. Pastor Victor Pearson will officiate. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Kokomo Memorial Park following the funeral service. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Kokomo Rescue Mission, 321 W Mulberry St, Kokomo, IN 46901.
