He had three brothers, William Collins (Bill), of Las Vegas, NV, Donald Collins, of Kokomo, and Ralph Collins, who all preceded him in death.
Everett served in the U.S. Army during World War II from September 1942 to December 1945. He served at Normandy in Northern France - Ardennes - Rhineland - Central Europe. Following his time in the military, he married Mildred Collins (Reynolds) in 1945 and they were married for 49 years. Together, they had three children, David Collins (deceased), Patty Collins, of Kokomo, and John Collins, of Kokomo. Everett also had four grandchildren, Michael Collins, of Ohio, Daniel Collins, of Tennessee, Brian Collins, of Plainfield, and Julie Collins (Conally), of Carmel, and five great-grandchildren.
Everett worked after the service at PPG Industries for 30 years. He then earned his Broker's license and started selling mostly commercial properties full-time.
Everett married Marie Long in 1995. She had two daughters, Nancy (Gayle) Richmond and Kathy Laird, both of Kokomo. Everett and Marie enjoyed traveling and went to Las Vegas and Tennessee several times. They were married until 2014 when she passed away.
Everett entered Wellbrooke in 2022 and became the oldest resident there. He entered his stay there at the time of Veteran's Day in 2022. He was received with a lot of fanfare.
Everett loved playing Euchre and finally had time to start playing BINGO, working puzzles, and an occasional game of corn hole. He was a loving husband and a good dad. We often asked what his secret was to living so long. He responded, "The secret is do your best, be honest, work hard, take care of those you love, and be grateful until the Lord take you home."
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Wellbrooke for their kindness and care for Everett and especially attention to his family.
Also special thanks to Guardian Angel, who gave wonderful care and compassion to Everett and his family.
