

“Gladdy” was born in Salina, Kansas on August 30, 1926 to Alva and Gladys Moore. She was third born of six children and grew up in Salina.
In 1945, she married First Lieutenant Robert Helhorst of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Robert preceded Gladys’ journey to Heaven in 2003, following 58 years of marriage.
Gladdy and Bob moved to Kokomo in 1966. Together, they were blessed with three children, Judy Fulmer, Patti Host, and James Helhorst; three granddaughters, Jenna (Jasen) Hobson, Lauren (Ryan) Hungate, and Audri Host; and four great grandsons, Patrick, Brody, and Graham Hobson, and Hudson Host.
Gladdy started work as a teller at 1st National Bank, Elizabeth St. Branch in 1968. She was branch manager at the time of her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, sewing, her dog and cats, jigsaw puzzles, and shopping…she loved to shop! Everyone who saw Gladdy knew her favorite color was pink!
Gladdy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, as well as three of her siblings; sister, Mazie Leiker; and two brothers, Lynn Moore and Charles Moore. Gladdy will be missed by her family and friends.
A heartfelt thank you to her private caregivers and the staff at Waterford Health Campus for the excellent care that they provided.
Private services were conducted at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in Gladys’ name may be made to the Kokomo Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
