Harriet May Ward (b. June 29, 1933) went to see her Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025. She was greeted in Heaven by the love of her life, Charles Ward, who preceded her in death. Together, they shared countless adventures and beautiful memories—especially their cherished vacations fishing in Florida with her mother, where laughter, sunshine, and togetherness filled their days.
Harriet was blessed with a large and loving family, including her six children: Donna Brewer (John), Mark Akers (Deborah), John Akers (Patty), Robert Akers (Robbin), David Akers, and Ron Williams (Chris). She is also survived by her cherished pup, Elvis; her 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry on her legacy of love and strength.
She was a woman with a strong spirit—stubborn, sassy, and smart. She valued her peace and never wanted to be a bother to anyone, yet her presence brought warmth to the room.
Harriet had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley and enjoyed many years singing karaoke with her friends and family. Her voice brought happiness to all who knew her. She was also known for making the best fried chicken. Through the years, she found great joy in her handiwork—crocheting afghans for her family, lovingly crafted for weddings, new babies, and special occasions. These treasured handmade gifts will forever serve as keepsakes of her love.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that Harriet is now reunited with her beloved Charles; her parents, Harry N. and Zella Mae Hargis; her twin brother, Harry Hargis; her sister, Nola; and her granddaughter, Samantha. We take peace in imagining them together again, smiling and sharing stories.
Her life was a beautiful story of love and she will be deeply missed by all of us.
A private graveside ceremony will be held for immediate family. Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family.
