

Hobert "Gene" Neal passed peacefully at home surrounded by family. He passed at 5:24am Thursday December 27, 2018. Hobert was born to Perry Hobert and Opal Elizabeth (Bertram) Neal October 2, 1945 in Cartwright, KY. His father Hobert passed at a young age of 28. His mother Opal then married Thomas Robison. Opal and Thomas both raised the kids to adulthood. Thomas passed in 1973, and Opal passed in 1997. Gene married Joyce (Morehead) Neal in 1996.
Gene retired from General Motors in 1994. After his retirement he took great pride in his yard. He always had a beautiful yard and flower gardens. He also loved riding his Harleys and going fishing, especially with friends and his grandsons. He was definitely a family man. He loved and was so proud of his son, daughter and step son. He loved all of his grandkids and great grandkids and wanted them to be around as much as possible.
Surviving him is his wife Joyce, one daughter Tammy Sailors whom he always referred to as his "baby girl", one son Mark Neal who was referred to as his "side kick" and Mark's companion Jennifer, and step son Greg Hedrick. He also has five grandsons, Chris Neal (Jenn), Chad Sailors (Sarah), Corey Neal, Nick Sailors, and Adam Lester, four granddaughters, Courtney Mittica (Wils), Jessica Neal, Abby Neal, and Breanna Lester, great grandsons Jaydon Neal and Camden Sailors, four great granddaughters Lynlie Sailors, Wren Sailors, and Marlee and Mattie Mittica, a sister in law Virginia Hayes and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Hobert in death are his parents, four brothers Dave, Ronnie, and Donnie, and Jimmie Neal who passed at a young age, two sisters Shirley Bell and Charlene Neal who passed at a young age as well and nephew Ryan Neal.
Gene had a great spirit about him and loved people dearly. He never met a stranger and will be missed and loved dearly.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hussain for everything he has done for them, and nurses Ashley, Chrissy, Jennifer, Crystal and his aid Bridget.
A Funeral service for Gene will take place Sunday December 30, 2018 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel at 2pm with Pastor Jeff Hartwig officiating. The family will offer visiting hours from 12 to 2pm. Please in lieu of flowers, donate to the American Heart Association.
