

Jack W. Talbert, 92, Kokomo, passed away Tuesday, February 19, at Waterford. He was born January 15, 1927 in Kokomo. He was the son of the late Tom and Ethyl Talbert. Jack married Shirley Smith and they were married for over 69 years. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945, and served his country for two years in Italy during World War II.
Jack was a quiet, hard working man. At the age of 12 he began working with his father at Talbert’s Poultry and eventually became owner. He also co-owned Kasual Korner. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his rental properties in Kokomo and Daytona Beach. In 1971 Jack began working in the maintenance department at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed time at his lake cottage and especially his condo in Daytona Beach. He was a regular morning customer at McDonalds enjoying coffee.
Jack's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife Shirley. He was a proud father of Dr. Terri Talbert-Hatch and her husband Robert, Rhonda Tiedeman, who predeceased him in 2006 and his Yorkie, Charlie. He was an awesome grandfather to Cory Tiedeman and Kristin Arnold and her husband Ryan. In April 2018, he became Papaw to great granddaughter, Taya Arnold.
He is also survived by step-grandchildren, Robert Hatch and his wife Amy, and step granddaughters Lauren and Lillian. He is also survived by brother, Jerry Talbert and his wife Kathy, of Noblesville, and sister, Phyllis Branch, of Kokomo, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Rhonda Tiedeman, sisters Carolyn Quinette and Margaret Engle, brothers Charles Reid Talbert and wife Dorothy, Dale Talbert and wife Alice, Dave Talbert and wife Pat, two infant siblings, and brother John Robert and sister Rivee.
A funeral service for Jack will take place Saturday February 23, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel at 12:00p.m. The family will offer visiting hours from 10a.m. to noon. A private graveside for the family will take place following the service with Military Honors.
