

James Henry Shupperd, 87, Kokomo, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Community Howard Regional Hospital. He was born August 8, 1926, in Kokomo, to Albert Henry and Ruth Jane (Franklin) Shupperd. On June 15, 1957, he married Norma Jean (Plake) Shupperd, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2006.
He served in the United States Army and later worked for Delco for 34 ½ years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and watching westerns, and he loved his family and his dogs. He was a member of the NRA and a lifetime member of the VFW and the DAV.
He is survived by six children, James (Karen) Shupperd, Karen (Tim) Isenhaur, Patricia Brubaker, Kenneth (Sandi) Shupperd, Curtis Shupperd, and Janice Sullivan; grandchildren, Brian Hasting, Ashley (Sami) Shupperd, Tiffany (Tony) Morgan, Brandon (Sarah) Shupperd, Cody Werdal, and Dustin Shupperd; great-grandchildren, Alexis Hasting, Macy Hasting, Ethan Hasting; former daughter-in-law, Kim Shupperd; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Norma, he was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Williams officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
