Joan married Melvin L. “Dick” Springer on July 4, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2013.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Shirlene Goodwin; two grandchildren, Derrick and Megan Minix; and a daughter-in-law, Caren Springer.
Surviving are her children, Kennard Springer, Fred (Joyce) Springer, Lachita (Darrell) Minix and Lee (Neal Bowers-Springer) Springer; a brother, Robert (Sandy) McGibbon; six grandchildren, Justin (Bianca) Springer, Doug (Alice) Springer, Chad (Tracy) Springer, Lindsey Springer, Haley (Tyler) Minix Delks, and Andrea (Robert) Cooper; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at First Church of God, 5937 S. Park Road in Kokomo, with Pastor Jerry Ausbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home.
