Lester L Free, Jr., 76, of Kokomo passed away June 6, 2018. He was born July 20, 1941 in Clarkesville, Georgia to Lester Lee and Manonie (Gragg) Free.
Lester grew up in Georgia, one of thirteen children, then moved to Indiana in his late teenage years. He worked for 20 years with Continental Steel until they closed and then another 20 years with Chrysler, retiring from there. Lester was a member of Northview Christian Church, the Eagles, Shriners, UAW and the Masons. He loved to play the slot machines! He took many trips to Las Vegas and to local casinos here in Indiana. He enjoyed local dirt track and Nascar racing and has quite a collection of die-cast cars. Lester also played banjo and listened to blue grass music. Most of all he loved his children and grandchildren and tried to get to as many of their sporting events as possible.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his siblings, JB, Johnny, Freeman, Thelma and Margie; ex-wife, Norma Free; and daughter, Carol Free.
Lester is survived by siblings, CT, Nelson, Homer, Anna, Bessie, Jessie and Essie; ex-wife and friend, Pam Free; children, Lora Free, Linda Taylor and Lester Free, III; step-children, Denny and Bobby Mize; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Monday, June 11 at Northview Christian Church, 2059 N. 100 E., Kokomo, IN 46901, from 10:00am -1:00pm with service to follow; officiated by Pastor Chuck Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northview Christian Church.
