Lisa Kay Kirby, age 66, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. Lisa was born October 9, 1955, in Fairfax County, VA, the daughter of the late Henry "Hank" and Velma (Hibbs) Bays. Lisa married her high school sweetheart, Mark Kirby, on October 13, 1973. Lisa graduated from Kokomo High School as a member in the class of 1973. She later earned her BSN from Indiana University - Kokomo in 1993. Lisa was a compassionate nurse and natural caregiver for anyone in need. Throughout her nursing career, Lisa worked at Howard Community Hospital (Kokomo) and St. Francis Hospital (Indianapolis). She spent the last several years as a travel nurse, with her most recent stint at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was fiercely loyal and loving to her entire family. Lisa was spirited, selfless, and generous. Throughout her life she became a mother, a mentor, and a friend to many. Lisa had so much love to share, and she generously gave everything she had to ensure the happiness of others. Lisa is survived by her husband of 48 years; sons, Shawn Kirby (Monique), Charles Kirby (Heather), and Josh Kirby (Tracy); her grandchildren, Caiden Kirby, Aiden Ethier, Jackson Kirby, Kingston Kirby, Koan Kirby, Hudson Kirby, and Lillian Bolen; her siblings, Kim Wilson (Dick), Christy Kirby (Lee), Cheryl Paluszewski (Tim), Jean Collins (Phil), Stacie Justice (Jack), Nina Bullock (Charlie), Beth Householder, Mark Bays (Cheryl), and James Selby; along with many nieces and nephews. Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Stanley Kirby. Please join us in celebrating Lisa on Friday, May 20, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A public viewing will be held from 1-4pm, with a Celebration of Life to follow. The family is encouraging everyone to dress comfortably and come as you are. A gathering will follow at the Charlie Kirby home following the Celebration of Life. Details will be provided at the Mortuary.
