

Loyle Dean Karns, 78, Kokomo, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. He was born September 23, 1934, in Wabash County, to Earl Jacob Karns and Anna Dean (Yager) Karns. On December 12, 1954, in Wabash County, he married Bonnie Joyce Hunter, who preceded him in death. He then married Lois (Tinder) Perkins Karns on September 9, 2001 in Kokomo.
He worked for over 35 years for Chrysler Corp in Kokomo, retiring in December 1999. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kokomo. He was well known for his work with We Care and the Chrysler Hope Fund.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Karns, Kokomo; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Linda Karns, Lakeland, Florida, Gregrey and Penny Karns, Woodburn, Indiana, and Kristopher and Amy Karns, San Antonio, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Walter Januszkiewicz, Windfall, Indiana; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Dean Hoaks, and Lori and Terry Miller; one step-son, David Perkins; one brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Marilyn Karns, Wabash; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna Lee and Max Biehl, and Karmen Caruso; 13 grandchildren, Erin and Carlos Pierre, Dean and Snezha Karns, Brandon and Bryony Karns, Dustin Karns, Joshua and Kayla Karns, Tyler and Brittany Karns, Samantha and Ian Blankenberger, Joseph Januszkiewicz, Alexander Januszkiewicz, Emily Karns, Heidi Karns, Kaitlynn Karns, and Austin Karns; two step-granddaughters, Brandy Fee, and Marissa Penn; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bonnie; three sisters, Earleen, Marian, and Anita; and one step-son, Phil Perkins.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington, Kokomo, with Pastor David Leeder officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Messages of condolence may be expressed online at www.sunsetmemorygarden.com.
