Martin Harrison Badgley, 66, of Kokomo passed away March 1, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family. He was born July 1, 1951 in Tipton to George Harrison Badgley and Wanda Louella (Hook) Utterback. Marty graduated from Eastern High School and went on to earn a Purdue University engineering degree. When he was younger, he had a paper route for the Kokomo Tribune and continued with that route for 33 years. He worked with Howard County and City of Kokomo Survey Department and retired after 42 years of service as Crew Chief Supervisor. He also had his own business, Badgley Surveys, for 16 years. Marty was a very busy man, but always found time for his many interests. He was an avid Harley Davidson rider and belonged to ABATE. He was also a member of the Moose, Eagles, Fraternal Order of Police and the Land Surveyors Society. Marty loved his Harley, playing pool for which he earned many awards, yardwork, wildlife, golfing and Florida. He also loved entertaining with love and laughter, the Colts, Peyton Manning and a good party! In 2013, Marty married his beloved companion of more than 25 years, Bonita (Murphy) Badgley. His most precious times were spent with family and friends around the pool, grilling and soaking up the sun. Marty was, above all, a generous and loving family man who adored his siblings, kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews and many friends. He will be greatly missed. Marty is survived by his mother, Wanda (Hook) Utterback; brother, Keith (Patricia) Badgley; sisters, Vicky Clark, Babette Afentakis, and Tammy (Tony) Spohn; wife, Bonita Badgley; daughters, Tonya (David) Bushfield, Kisha Pulverenti, and Lana (Tom) Rubow; grandchildren, Jadon, Seth, Mercedes, Addison, Vito, Kalee, Kelsee, and Gianni; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Harrison Badgley; and step-father, Lavern Utterback. Family will receive friends Monday, March 5 from 3-6pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo, IN 46902. Services will follow at 6pm and will be officiated by Fred Murphy and Greg Hounchell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marty’s name to Cancer Treatment Centers of America – Midwestern Regional Medical Center – Administration, 2520 Elisha Avenue, Zion, IL 60099.
