

Mary Jess Hamilton, 93, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, June 06, 2011, at Waterford Place Health Campus. She was born May 17, 1918, in Peru, to Elmer and Lucretia (Day) Britton. On November 2, 1945, she married Clarence Hamilton, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1985.
She worked at Delco Electronics for 32 years until her retirement in 1981. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several local bridge clubs. She loved to knit and make doll clothes and was an excellent baker.
She is survived by three daughters, Nicki (Jim) Kaufman, Kokomo, Kathryn Schroeter, Kokomo, and Janet (Tom) Shermer, Winston Salem, North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Ragina Horsley, John Gardner, Patti McFarland, Dawn Curio, Mike Bergstrom, Richard Schroeter, Scott Schroeter, Jill Biddle, Nicci Sutton, and Ryann Carnall; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home with Pastor Harold Williams officiating. Entombment will take place at a later date in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
