Phillis Jean Rutherford

Phillis Jean Rutherford, age 89, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Phillis was born on January 3,1936 in Kokomo, Indiana to Louis Wellinger and Elizabeth (Bentley) Millette. She graduated from Western High School in Russiaville and went on to marry Harold Rutherford on November 25,1953. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will miss her terribly.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Mike) Pearce, Pamela Hobbs, Vicki Rutherford, and Kevin Rutherford; grandchildren, Jeremy (Lacey) Mundy, Jenni (Toby) Ronk, Amanda Heath, April (Rob) Landes, Britney Lees, Ashley (Blaine) Swing, and Levi Rutherford; great-grandchildren, Tyra Gregory, Justis Mundy, Haliegh Smith, Fain Mundy, Grace Smith, Kolton Heath, Kami Heath, Ethan Morgan, Emma Morgan, Liara Swing, Ronan Lees, and Jameson Lees; great-great-grandchildren, Jaylee Couch and Brinley Couch; siblings, Walter Wellinger, Robert (Annette) Barnett, Larry (Evelyn) Barnett, Jim Barnett, Donald (Judy) Barnett, and Mike Barnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elizabeth; her husband, Harold; siblings, Tom (Betty) Wellinger, Joseph Barnett, Elizabeth (Randall) Coffey, and Mary Henderson.

A funeral service for Phillis will be Wednesday, August 20,2025 at 4pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Rd., Kokomo. Friends may visit with the family from 2pm until the time of service. Philis will be entombed Thursday, August 21,2025 at 10am in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
