After graduating from high school, Les began work at Delco, where he started as a production worker, and later became a customer support engineer. During his time at Delco, Les also took classes from IU Kokomo. His employment for Delco lasted for 42 years, before he retired in 2011. Les spent a great amount of time traveling the country along with Canada and Mexico for his job. On December 21, 1968, Les was married to the love of his life, Margaret Enlow, and she survives. Les and Margaret regularly attended Bethel Tabernacle Church in Kokomo.
Les had a love for Corvettes, and had owned 11 through his life. He belonged to the Corvette Club of Mishawaka and Circle City. The three things that made Les happy were God, family, and Corvettes. Following his retirement from Delco, Les kept himself occupied by working as a paraprofessional for Darrough Chapel Schools and Boulevard Elementary from 2012 to 2015.
In addition to his wife, Margaret Pickett, Les is survived by his children, Tammera Kaye (David) Pottenger, and Phillip Raymond (Tisha) Pickett; brother, Jeff Pickett; sister, Mickey (Garry) Ryan; grandchildren, Leslie Barss, Kody (Alli) Judy, and Dakota Pickett; and great grandchildren, Shadyn Pickett and Brooklyn Barss.
In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in passing by two brothers, Butch Pickett and Mike Pickett; and two great grandchildren in Heaven.
There will be a public visitation for Les held at Bethel Tabernacle Church in Kokomo on Tuesday, November 19th from 5-8 pm. There will be a second visitation at Bethel Tabernacle on Wednesday, November 20th from 12-1 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service. Les will then be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.
