Reva N. Gibson, 90, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 19, 2022. She was born in Van Lear, Kentucky on August 27, 1931 to Willie Hale and Elizabeth (Mollett) Hale.
On November 24, 1962 she married the love of her life Edward W. Gibson, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2021.
Reva retired from Delco after 41 years. While working at Delco she went to cosmetology school to be a beautician. All of her grandchildren always wanted their grandma to cut their hair, sometimes cutting it a little short, but she always told them it would grow out again.
Reva enjoyed quiet evenings with Ed out on their back porch deck watching the grandkids, family, and friends swim out in the pool, 4th of July cookouts with family from Las Vegas, and Columbus, Ohio, birthdays for her children and grandchildren, and most of all Christmas. Everyone couldn’t wait to get to grandma’s house to see if Santa Mouse had been there to load the tree down with five-dollar bills. She made everything perfect. Other things that Reva enjoyed were gardening, canning what she grew, fishing, sewing, going on vacation in their motorhome, rarely being able to leave home without taking her grandchildren.
Reva was a very loving, kind and unselfish person. She loved her church and God. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Kokomo.
Reva’s children are daughters Sharon (Jim) Dunkle, Logansport, Sandy (Kenny) Meacham, Kokomo, and Son John (Suzy) Gibson, Logansport. When she and Edward married, he blessed her with four stepchildren. They are Rebecca Cecil, Kokomo, and Mark (Sue) Gibson, Kokomo. There are 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and another great-great grandchild expected in August of this year.
Reva is survived by one brother, Bill (Barbara) Hale, Columbus, Ohio, sister-in-law Elizabeth Garland, Jo (Glen) Earl, brother-in-law Albert (Janice) Gibson, and Sam Gibson, all of Tennessee. She also had several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward of 58 years, Evalee Pearns, sister; Pamela Morehead, stepdaughter; Edward W. Gibson II, stepson; Emily Brannon, great granddaughter; Junie Mae Leach, sister-in-law; Jimmy Gibson, brother-in-law; Rachael Gibson, sister-in-law; Rhonda Leach, niece; and Renosa Gibson, niece.
This wonderful woman who was called mother, mom, grandma, grandma great, Mamaw Bibbs, sister, aunt, sis, sissy and friend will forever be in our hearts, and never forgotten. We love you.
