

Robert Alan La Fleur, 76, Kokomo, IN and formerly of Royal Oak, MI and Festus, MO, passed away July 11, 2016 at his residence. Bob was born on June 6, 1940 in Lake Linden, MI, the son of Edward and Mercedes (La Plante) La Fleur.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit and his Master’s degree from Wayne State University. Bob also served in the United States Air Force. For many years, Bob was an educator at the University of Detroit High School, where he taught Latin, Greek, English, and theology. He loved his students and guiding their paths of education. He was a devout follower of the Catholic faith. Bob loved travelling, animals, the state of Michigan, Johnny Mathis music, crossword puzzles and word games, and Detroit baseball and football.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two siblings, Ronald La Fleur and Edward La Fleur.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carole A. La Fleur, Kokomo; his nephew, Alan La Fleur (Joanne), Kokomo; his siblings, Paul La Fleur, Spring Hill, FL, and Sharon Downing, Canton, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Monday, August 1 at 11 A.M. at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 W. Alto Road, Kokomo. Cremation will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Capuchin Retreat, 62460 Mt. Vernon Road, Washington, MI 48094 (www.capretreat.org).
