Roger Allen Smith

Roger Allen Smith, age 76, passed away on October 27, 2018 in Greentown. Roger was born on March 15, 1942 in Windfield, Alabama, to the late Thomas and Emma Lee Smith. Shortly after graduating high school in Indiana, Roger was married to his high school sweetheart, Maye M. Pearson in Windfall, Indiana. Maye preceded Roger in passing on July 5, 2004. Roger worked at the Chrysler plant in Kokomo for over 40 years, before retiring in 2004. Roger put his family above everything. He spent most of his time either working to support his family, or encouraging his children and grandchildren with their activities as they grew up. He loved to travel with his family, particularly to Disney World. He also enjoyed camping and boating. Roger is survived by his children, Roger Allen (Monica) Smith II, Nina (Daniel) Barton, and Katrina (John) Bolinger; sister, Mary (Frank) Odell; grandchildren, Roger Allen Smith III, Madison Mae Jones, Nikita Parsen, Dakota Barton, Quianna McCartney, Brianna Silvers, Montana McCartney, and Andrea Hadley; and great-grandchildren, Braxton, Gabriella, Daisy, Brayliana, Keilynn, and Alliviah. There will be a visitation for Roger held at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 30th from 11:00 to 1:00, with a funeral service immediately following. Memorial contributions in Roger’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society. Roger’s family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to Guardian Angel Hospice for all their hard work and compassion.
