Russell Ora Parkhurst

Russell Ora Parkhurst, 83, of Kokomo passed away at 2:45 AM Thursday November 9, 2017 at North Woods Village, Kokomo. Born May 21, 1934 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Ora Parkhust and Janice (Freed) Parkhurst. In Kokomo in 1961 he married Anna Jean (Hounchell). She preceded him in death on January 16, 2017. He was employed with Haynes Stellite (now Haynes International) for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Pacers, and driving his golf cart around the neighborhood where he loved visiting his neighbors. He also liked to fish and had bowled in leagues for several years. He was also a member of Hinkle Masonic Lodge #310 F & AM. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and his cat “Ugly”.

Survivors include two sons David (Angela) Parkhurst, Russell O. Parkhurst II, both of Kokomo; two sisters Edith Cook of Eureka, California and Elsie Purvis of Burlington. There are also five grandchildren Nicholas (Carrie) Parkhurst, Christopher Parkhurst, Kayla Parkhurst, Jordan (Calvin) Fitch, Emily (Alexander) Teller; and one great grandchild Baylee Parkhurst.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one son Rusty Draper.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday November 13, 2017 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. Pastor Michael Alley will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Monday at the mortuary where a masonic service will begin at 12:45 PM.
