Sammie “Samie” Dunn Sr., 90, passed away at North Woods Village on Saturday, June 3, 2017, surrounded by family. Samie was born to Daniel Marcus and Sarah Ona Dunn on September 14, 1926 in Helechawa, Kentucky. Samie raised his children with Dorothy Dunn-Glosser, and she precedes him in death.
He retired from Cuneo Press after many years of service. Samie enjoyed watching his kids play sports, and loved Nascar. He raced when he was younger as well.
Samie is survived by children Darlene (Larry) Logan, Samie (Vicki) Dunn Jr., Roy (Connie) Dunn, Nancy Davis; brothers Bob, Mark, and Jay Dunn; sisters Mattie Parks and Mary Harrington; grandchildren Jesse, Brooke, Tony Davis, and Kalie (Justin) Clark, Jeremy and Matthew Stevens, and Richie Dunn; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Samie is preceded in death by his parents, son Danny Dunn, Virgil Dunn, and Clyde Dunn.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Jeff Russell. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
